Review : Shiseido Perfect UV Protection SPF 50++ PA++++

If any of you don’t know much about sunscreen/sunblock, I’m gonna give you a heads up about everything you need to know before you pick your sunblock.

You have to find a minimum SPF15 , because the protection is decreasing when you apply your cosmetics. You need to apply half a teaspoon of sunblock onto your face in order to enjoy the full SPF, and you need to re-apply it every 2 hours to maintain the protection (only if you under direct sunlight all day).

SPF 15 sunscreen absorbs 93% of UVB rays. An SPF 30 sunscrreen absorbs 97% of UVB rays. An SPF 50 sunscreen absorbs 98%. More than that is pretty much the same, and useless. For Daily use SPF 30 is enough.

But sunscreen/sunblock isn’t only about SPF, you need a sunscreen/sunblock with UVA, SPF is only protecting you from UVB, but not UVA. In Asian countries, PA++ value is indication of UVA protection, and the more ++’s after the PA, the higher the UVA protection.

UVB is protection from burning, and UVA is protection from UV that can damage your skin (cancer, melanoma, freckles, wrinkles).

Ok, now move on to the review (sorry for the long explanation). Shiseido perfect UV Protection is a sunblock for body and face, but I only use it for my face. I find this sunblock is good for sensitive skin, because usually if I apply a sunblock above SPF30 than I’m gonna breakout, but not with shiseido.

The texture is runny, and when you apply it to your face it’s very light and not greasy at all. It will give translucent matte finish. It absorbs into my skin pretty quick and doesn’t make my face oily in the middle of the day, and it actually a pretty good base for your makeup. And most importantly it doesn’t dry out my skin.

This sunblock is water resistant, so sweat is not gonna be a problem, you can even swim with it. Even though I never tried swimming with this sunblock before. But it claims to be very water resistant
I usually apply it after my skincare routine and before I start my makeup. And because I rarely under direct sunlight I never re-apply this during the day.

Notes : don’t forget to shake it before every use, or it will only give you a clear product.

PRICE 450.000IDR
My opinion about the price :
quite pricey but if comparing to other department store brands such as clarins or Clinique, this is quite okay with a better quality.
You can find Shiseido counter in big department store, such as SOGO, MATAHARI and METRO.

PRO :
  • Doesn’t give you a white cast
  • It’s very light and comfortable in your skin
  • Water resistant
  • Good for sensitive skin
  • It gives protection from UVA and UVB

CONS :
  • A bit pricey
  • You have to shake it before every use, and I sometimes forget
